Advocacy
GIADA is the only state association representing the collective interests of independent car dealers in Georgia. Our staff and seasoned lobbyists have key relationships with the state agencies and legislative leaders whose policies affect used car dealers.
GIADA supports
- Legislative changes that improve the dealer licensing process and promote honesty and fair dealing
- Protecting Georgia dealers from unfair competition from unlicensed individuals
- Stronger enforcement against illegal operators and of existing laws
- Measures that make government more efficient
GIADA opposes
- Unnecessary regulation that creates paperwork and manpower burdens on law-abiding dealers without corresponding benefits to the industry and the public
- Measures that would keep lawful dealers from providing affordable transportation

Curbstoning law (HB 144, 2007)
GIADA backed O.C.G.A. § 40-2-39.1, which limits how many vehicles a property owner can allow to be sold from their property in 12 months and makes violations a misdemeanor.
Stopping a used car tax increase
GIADA's lobbying helped strip a tax increase on used car sales out of state legislation.
HB 1267 (2026)
GIADA rallied members against a bill that would have added red tape and moved dealer licensing from the Used Car Board toward the Department of Revenue.
