FAQ

Pre-license questions

Who needs to take the class?
Only the person who will be listed as the designee on the dealer license needs to take the pre-license seminar.
Do I need to be a GIADA member?
No. The seminar is required for every new dealer license whether or not you join GIADA. Membership is the easiest and least expensive way to get help with the rest of your application.
How long is my certificate good for?
The Secretary of State gives you one year from the date you complete the seminar to submit a completed license application.
Can I take the pre-license class online?
GIADA teaches the pre-license seminar in person in Atlanta and Macon. Call the office if you have questions about scheduling.
How long does it take to get my license after the class?
GIADA advises that the state typically takes 8 to 10 weeks to approve and issue a license when the application is complete and doesn't go to Board review.
Can GIADA check my application before I send it?
Yes. Members can send their application to the GIADA office for a final review, by appointment by phone or in person, before submitting it to the state.
